One year at The Increase Conference, Trip Lee spoke briefly but powerfully about living out our personal faithfulness to win others to Christ.
He said that we often get stuck in one of two approaches to living out our Christian faith:
Secret - We believe that faith is a personal and private thing that shouldn't be shared with anyone. We hide our beliefs so much that the people around us probably don't even know we are a Christian. We hide the light of Jesus under the proverbial bushel.
Obnoxious - Everyone knows we are a Christian because we are so obnoxious about it. We are loud and proud and try to shove the light of Jesus down everyone else's throat.
Neither of these approaches are likely to win many to Christ.
So what should we do? Work hard and live faithfully. Wherever God places you, do your best work. Whoever God places you with, love them well. When the world is wrapped up in chaos, be the calm in the middle of the storm. Radiate the love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control of the Spirit. Share your testimony, and then back it up with the kind of life that shines the light of Jesus.
So don't hide your faith or succumb to Christian pride, but walk the daily walk of obeying Jesus.
May we never underestimate the power of our personal faithfulness to point people to Christ.
